The Fred Leighton Roundā¢ is a proprietary diamond cut that perfects the understated elegance and charm of antique diamonds with modern engineering. Based on the old European cut that reigned from 1890-1930, the Fred Leighton Round is more brilliant than a vintage stone, dazzling with fire and charisma. Here, we feature the unique cut in earrings inspired by the Georgian era, set in 18K yellow gold collets, topped with silver, and secured by elegant prongs. This two-metal technique dates to the late 1700s, when jewelers favored white metal to enhance a diamondās sparkle. Since platinum and white gold had yet to be introduced, silver was the only option ā but it tarnished over time. To protect skin and fabric from staining, artisans backed the silver with gold, a detail preserved in this design.
